There is a conceptual problem here. The traditional alignment algorithm used in WFRP is: Law - Good - Neutral - Evil - Chaos. This causes a common confusion in suggesting to people that Chaos is more evil than Evil (i.e. further to the right) and similarly, Law is more good than Good. Also, since Good is the opposite of Evil, then Law is the opposite of Chaos.
However, this is not true IMO. Law is not more good than Good - Lawful characters are not nice! They are inflexible, unbending, and unflinching in their pursuit of Law (as they see it). They would stop at nothing to pursue their mission - that means they would kill anyone they thought was tainted for example, even if it was a baby. Many of their victims may be innocent, but they don't take the chance they might not be! And they don't feel bad about it. They are, in fact, extremists, and therefore not too dissimilar from Chaos in that way. So, we come to Chaos. Whereas Evil has a purpose - Evil characters would do evil deeds in order to further their goals, e.g. sacrifice an innocent in order to gain magical power etc, Chaos is purposeless and random. The Chaotic characters are not driven by any other purpose than to cause, literally chaos, i.e. disorder, and therefore to please their gods, which are the embodiments of mindless chaos, e.g. Khorne is violence for the sake of violence, war just for killing. Even Tzeentch, the Great Schemer, is completely random, with some of his cults opposed to the plans of other Tzeentchian cults (see the Enemy Within) and therefore seemingly self-destructive. In fact, one could say, that true Chaotics would even do seemingly good deeds (there was a Chaos character in WFB who had the gift of restoring Life(!)). Another example is the fact that the 4 Chaos Powers are constantly at war with each other - the argument being that if only they could co-operate, then the world would surely fall to Chaos. I would argue that Malal, is actually more Chaotic than other Chaotic powers because he embodies self-destructive hatred, Chaos that turn on itself. That does not make him Good, or less Evil, because, as I have argued, Chaos is not just more evil than Evil, Chaos is an extreme alignment, qualitatively different from others. He is, though, most Chaotic!
